Weekly Letter

Olá Família,
This last week was good. We had Zone Conference and got to meet the new mission president and his wife. They are really nice and they have a lot of experience too. President Loureiro has been a 70 for quite a while and has served in almost all of the countries in the Americas. In my interview he was really interested in learning about me and how I was doing. He is a lot more personal and seems to care a lot more about the missionary and not just the mission as a whole. I am excited to continue to learn and grow from the counsel that he gave me.
This last week we also were able to baptize, Flaviana. A single mom with four children. We were happy to see that she was finally willing and wanted to take the next step and enter into the church.
Sorry I don't have too much time to write but the week was good and this next one will be better! Love you guys!

This week went by fast. We worked well until Wednesday but Elder Araujo got sick. He started coughing and sneezing a lot, so we called the mission president´s wife and she told him to take some medicine. He took it but was still pretty bad. During the night he had some sort of reaction to the medicine and blacked out. It was about 3 o'clock in the morning, so I had the hopefully once in a life time opportunity to call the ambulance. However when they arrived at our house Araujo had already woken up and responded well to the questions so they didn´t take him away. But the next day we found out that he didn't remember any of the night. So we went to the hospital and he had to take a whole lot of medicine and a few injections. After we went back home and had to stay home for the rest of the week. So it was pretty stress full this last week but this next week will be better. We will travel to Petrópolis tonight because we have a Zone Conference tomorrow. I am pretty excited to meet the new mission president and his wife. Love you guys! Happy Birthday Zack!

Weekly Letter

Olá Família,
This last week was good. We did have transfers but no one was transferred so we will stay together for 6 more weeks. We have been working a lot trying to find more people to teach but have hit a wall in a lot of the neighborhoods we have been working in. But yesterday a member brought her friend to church and she liked the meetings. We are exited to visit her this week. Also there is a member family that are active, but the Dad hasn´t been baptized because of the soccer team that he is on. And the soccer leagues always use Saturday and Sunday for the practises and games. BUT, three Sundays ago he was playing soccer and fell and hit his head. Apparently he was bleeding a lot and had to have a surgery to keep the blood from flooding his brain. He was hospitalized for a couple weeks and this last week he could go home. He wasn´t reacting very well or eating so we passed by a gave him a Priesthood Blessing. He was pretty emocioned when we left. He has improved a lot and even walked to church with his family yesterday. So we are glad to have helped and are excited to work with him, so the family can be sealed soon. It was a miracle that he survived everything and he seems super grateful for God´s hand in his life. The week had a great ending, we just have to do it again. haha. Love you guys!

Olá Família,
This last week was good. There were two emergency transfers, one on Wednesday and the other on Friday. So we went to Três Rios to stay with one of the Elders there until his companion arrived. We have taught Ana Claudia more and she came to church yesterday. She liked it a lot and is reading the Book of Mormon! So we are excited to see her progressing. We also visited some friends of the branch president. The Mom is called Elisabeth and her her son is RuanRuan is super excited and liked church he wants to be baptized already, and wanted to see the baptismal font. They are a really good family, but the Mom is living together and isn´t married yet. But they are excited to keep learning. The week went by super fast. I´m glad to hear from everyone and hope that everything is going well. Love you guys!

Olá Família,
This last week went by fast. We have been teaching a woman and her children these last few months. They never went to church so we had stopped visiting them. But this last week we we thought that we should pass by and talk to her again. We talked to her and she said that she would go to church with us and bring her 4 kids too. This last Sunday was District Conference so we walked with them from their house to the church. It is a pretty good little hike that took about 40 minutes. The little ones didn´t complain about the distance so that's good. The kids are 14, 11, 7, 5 years old. They really liked the conference and are excited for next week, which is Branch Conference. haha. We were super happy to see that they were finally able to get to church! We also contacted a referral from a member in Vila Isabel. Her name is Ana Claudia and she is dating Douglass. We taught them both the Restoration and they liked it a lot. We answered their questions and gave them a Book of Mormon. They even decided which days they would each read the chapter we left. They were really surprised about how we serve missions and leave everything for 2 years. They too, are excited to go to church next week. We are excited to teach these people this week and hope to find more too. Love you guys tons!

Olá Família,
This last week was good. We left our house around 7 yesterday and picked up one of our investigators. We got to the church around 8:45. Our investigator is called Loriane and her boyfriend is returning to the church. We have taught them a couple of times and they are liking the lessons. We are finding quite a few people to teach here, in the neighborhoods we haven't worked in before so that is good. We even did a service project on Saturday. We used a pulley to put sand and gravel on top of the branch president´s house. He is building another house on top of his and called us to help. They mix concrete with gravel and sand to stretch it out and apparently it is safe, because I haven´t seen a house fall. haha. It was good to do a little bit of exercise, it´s been quite a long time since our last service project. Love you guys tons! Have a good week!

Weekly Letter

Olá Família,
This last week went by super fast. Elder Araujo is my new companion and he is a pretty good guy. He is from the northern part of Brazil, so while I am enjoying the ´´cooler´´ weather he is cold. haha. He is the only member in his family and so he doesn´t have a ton of support from home, but he is a good worker. I was suprised at how much we were able to get done this last week. We have been working the same way that I have always planned too these last few months but now it seems to be working properly. I was able to strengthen my tesimnony on how important it is to work with the same determination and care as your companion. Because even if you still knock doors, search for old investigators, and teach less active members, the work only funcions if you try as hard as your companion and you work together. When two missionaries keep all the rules and do their best, they are really a lot more successful in finding and teaching people. We have found 10 new investigators this week. And they all seem to have quite a bit of potencial. We are excited to work with thenm mthis next week. One woman called Terezinha we found yesterday. She was explaining how the world should only have one church, and worship God in the same way. That there shouldn´t be all of these churches with different ways to do things, or even teach things. While we explained the restoration to her, she interupted to ask where the church was and when it starts! So that was pretty cool. Love you guys tons! Have a good week!

Weekly Letter

Olá Família,
This last week flew by. A few days this week we left with some members to visit people they know, and so we have a few people that we can visit this next week. When we passed by the house of Rodrigo, he didn´t answer the door, so we are thinking he doesn´t want us to visit him any more. We will work is some other neighborhoods this next transfer. In the places we don´t know very well. We have been working in the same parts of the city for what seems like an eternity so we will switch it up again. haha. We had transfers last night and it turns out that I will be staying here and my new companion will get here tomorrow. He is Brazilian and has less than 6 months in the mission, so that's pretty exciting. I did the math and it turns out that I will have 9 months in this district. It went by fast but holy cow that's a lot of time! haha. I´m heading into the week with high hopes. It will be good. Love you guys tons!

Weekly Letter

Olá Família,
This week was good. We have been enjoying the rain over the last few days and the cooler weather. We have been trying to find more people to teach via knocking on doors. We found a older couple this week that seem pretty interested. They are life long catholics and live close to the church, the wife sounds pretty stressed out with family problems and is excited for us to come back. We will visit them this week and see how they are doing. We also have been teaching a young man called Rodrigo, which likes the messages too. He read and prayed about the Book of Mormon and said that he felt good. That he feel the same way when he reads the Bible. We explained that if he reads the Bible and feels good, and reads the Book of Mormon and has the same feeling, it is because they are both true. We gave another lesson and left another chapter for him to read and we will visit him tomorrow. So we are pretty excited. One day this week we were eating lunch with and it started to rain. We forgot our umbrellas at home, and the members had only a beach umbrella so we walked with the whole family to the bus stop and waited with them for 10 minutes until the bus arrived. haha. It was good, just had to ignore the weird looks from the other people. haha. I love you guys a lot! Thanks for your prayers!
